At Good Shepherd the curriculum is designed to engage students in developing important mathematical skills and understandings. A problem solving approach, hands-on experiences, and open-ended activities are all key features of our teaching. Students are encouraged to explain and discuss how they reached their solution and consider possible alternatives.
Number and Algebra and Statistics and Probability content is taught in ‘Clinics’ where students are mixed within their level to allow for the most effective delivery of content. Ongoing assessment allows for students to be challenged and have individual needs met through targeted teaching.
Senior students are involved in an extension enrichment program to maximise growth and target individual learning needs.
